On This Date: Amelia Rogers

On October 7, 1971, Disney World opened in Orlando, Florida. Although this event was not a world-changing, life-altering event for most people, the magic of Disney World is what makes this event something special. Even though Walt Disney passed away before the construction on Disney World began, his vision for “the most wonderful place in the world” came true on that day. Whether you love Disney World or hate it, you can’t deny the beauty of a place where children’s dreams come true. I have been to Disney World three times, and the memories that I have of meeting the princesses and seeing my favorite characters in real life will always be with me. Every single day, children and adults alike enter a world that is all its own, full of surprises and imagination. Nowhere else on earth holds that magical power. Nowhere else is Disney World.

No, it’s not a perfect place. But for 43 years, it’s been pretty close.
