This was a huge event, as it would eventually lead to the end of World War 2. Because of this, the first (and last to be dropped on another nation) atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed. This event marked the beginning of a new age of warfare, showing the true nature and devastation to everyday citizens, civilians.
Everyone has a different opinion on whether this event was good or bad. On one hand, it killed almost a quarter of a million people, coming to a total of about 220,000. It showed how one nation could have enough power to wipe out entire cities. With these bombs, there was also the detrimental effect on the environment, which continues and will continue to affect Japan. On the other hand, the United States stayed in its position of military dominance, and ended a world war. It's up to you to decide which is more important.
