On This Date- Caroline Totty

On October 11th, 2000 the 100th space shuttle mission (STS-92) was flown. This was a space shuttle mission to the International Space Station flown by Space Shuttle Discovery. This space shuttle was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. STS-92 traveled a total of 4.9 million miles on it's twelve day mission. Whenever a space shuttle launches it is an overall achievement for our society. It shows that we are advanced enough to send air crafts and people into space which is incredible. This space shuttle mission had seven people on it. We are constantly making technology advances and discovering things outside of our universe and the fact that fourteen years ago we had sent the 100th space shuttle mission into space is astonishing. I appreciate this event because I appreciate that we, as humans, are trying to best understand the universe that we live in and discover what else could be out there in the unknown. I appreciate how curious man kind is.
