Flying Turkeys-Emily Chavez

Turkey Day is my favorite day. Thanksgiving with the Chavez clan varies from year to year. Some years we are back home in Colorado, some years we are cozy in our home, or some years we just spend the day with close friends. This year we spent Thanksgiving with family friends. We ate and we laughed, and being surrounded by people we loved was enough to make the day perfect.
My favorite Thanksgiving memory is the Turkey Table Tennis Tournament our friends used to host in Florida. When I lived in there, we would create a bracket and play in a ping pong tournament. I never won, but it was always so much fun to play and to watch. I love that Thanksgiving is the kick-off of the Christmas season, but nothing beats just reflecting on family, friends and other things I'm thankful for. I also really like the food, especially the bread rolls.
Thanksgiving isn't a bunch of traditions for my family. It's giving thanks no matter where we are or who we are with. But nevertheless, it is my absolute favorite holiday.
