What is it good for?- Scott Street

War is widely viewed as a negative thing. But think about a world without war. Better yet, think about if the United States decided to take a pacifist approach. Other countries would just roll over us at even the slightest conflict! A non-pacifist approach is absolutely necessary if we want our country to be a global power. Yes, war is bad and results in many casualties and hardships and whatnot, but without war, the conflicts that the wars resulted from would not be resolved. And without war, we would be allowing terroristic groups such as ISIS to control the world. All in all, whenever someone brings up the idea of a pacifist society, I agree that it would be temporarily peaceful, but in the long run, it is just not a conventional proposition. In addition, people that enlist in the army would not receive any benefits in a pacifist society, and that is just completely impractical. As terrible as it sounds, the world needs war.
