Flying turkeys- Mckenna Elliott

No one in my house or family enjoys Thanksgiving as much as I do. I mean, who wouldn't love a holiday devoted to just eating?

In the past, we would go down to my parents' friends' house in Columbus, Georgia (whom they met when they first got married) and we would spend Thanksgiving with them, where we would laugh and reminisce on old times. The past couple of years we have not been able to do that due to family matters with their family as well as ours, so we've just been home for the holiday and invited old friends over.

We don't usually spend Thanksgiving with some of our extended family that lives in northern Kentucky or Ohio mainly because they normally spend it with their other side of the family. My grandma lived with us for 7 years, so usually it was our whole family of 5 plus her, but this year was our first holiday spent without her presence. This year, it was only my family as well as one of my sister's stoner friends. Our Thanksgiving meal usually includes the basics such as turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, as well as some of our household favorites like squash casserole, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, and various desserts.

Thanksgiving is my favorite because you spend all day laying around the house helping cook the meal, feast until you can't move anymore, and then take the best nap of the entire year. I also would like to add how much I hate that Thanksgiving barely gets any recognition and is overshadowed by Black Friday and Christmas.
