America is a consumer driven society, where people are too
focused on money. As we approach
the holiday season, this consumer-crazy environment is on full display. The quasi-holiday Black Friday is
spilling over into the beautiful American tradition of Thanksgiving, with
stores now opening on Thursday night for extra shopping hours.
In the interest of preserving our country, I propose a
simple solution— we get rid of currency.
Without any money, people will quickly become less worried
about material things and focus on what’s more important. People will spend
more time with their families and friends during the holidays, and carry the
joy of that season with them all year long. Without currency, a bartering
system will develop, and people will get out and connect with their neighbors,
creating a greater sense of community. This will strengthen our country and
revive our patriotism. There will no longer be a need for banks, so robbery
will decrease greatly, and thieves can find good jobs. Also, animosity between
rich and poor will vanish, as the rich will no longer have money to flaunt
around.
Overall, getting rid of currency will strengthen our nation
and save us from the monster of consumerism.
